Pre School Swim Lesson
Pre School Swim Lesson - Ages 3-5
The YMCA Preschool Swim Program is a nationally recognized program for children ages 3 through 5 years. This program offers children their first experience in the pool without parental participation. Children progress through several different levels of classes as they learn new skills and improve their strokes. Instructions teach skills that help children learn personal growth, pool safety, stroke development, water sports and games.
PIKE
A swim class for new and beginner swimmers. Children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water and learn to swim independently with a bubble. Swimmers are taught pool safety, the paddle stroke, kicking, floating, blowing bubbles and jumping into the pool.
EEL
For swimmers almost ready to swim withour a bubble or able to swim short distances withour a bubble. Children are taught to kick on their back, float, and perform the progressive paddle stroke. Swimmers work toward swimming the width of the pool without a bubble.
RAY
An intermediate level swim class for children who can swim strongly without a bubble. Swimmers review previous skills and learn front crawl with rotary breathing, the backstroke and treading water. Children will alson learn howto flutter kick properly which is the foundation of swimming.
STARFISH
An advanced class for childredn who can strongly swim the length of the pool using both backstroke and front crawl with rotary breathing.
